Do you guys think USA can get through the first round? I hope they do but I doubt they will. I'm just starting to follow soccer though so idk.

No they won't because they are in the same group as Portugal and Germany. They might come third though if they can beat Ghana.

I have the U.S.A becoming dead last...
They have zero chance against Germany and Portugal.
U.S.A versus Ghana might be a good match but even then I still think Ghana is a better team.

If it's any conciliation I'm not sure that England will get out of their group either. Unless Italy are totally useless which I very much doubt.

U.S would be lucky to win a game. Their only chance is Ronaldo's injury keeping him out. Then if they can tie/beat Ghana, they could beat Portugal and make it out. Too bad for France losing Ribery.

Hate to break it to you, but even without Ronaldo, the US is nothing against Portugal. A team doesn't win matches because of 1 played. Losing Ronaldo will have a decent impact, but not enough to make them lose to the US.

Yeah Portugal has several awesome players who are fully capable of scoring or defending against other world class teams.

Yeah you're probably right. I, personally, do not know a single player on Portugal besides Ronaldo.

Previous tournaments haven't been good by Portugal. Not since Euro 2004. USA might shock, they don't have a bad team.

Didnt Portugal nearly defeat Spain in the semis of Euro 2012? It came down to PKs, and Ronaldo inexplicably didn't get a chance to shoot. After that Spain promptly gave Italy quite a beating.

Maybe not for US standard, but I still doubt they can take Ghana, Portugal won't be nice for them either.
And Germany... Well don't make me start about them...

Why do you think so highly of Ghana? They don't really have that great of a team, honestly. A few good players here and there.

Their players are overall still significantly better than the U.S.
They made it through the qualifications effortlessly. Beating Egypt 6-1.

Ghana still have some really high class players like Essien, Gyan, Asamoah and Inkoom.
What does the US have? Dempsey and Beasley? They're both in their 30s, way over their top.

Michael Bradley, Mikkel Diskerud, Jermaine Jones. Two good goalkeepers in Tim Howard and Brad Guzan. Young talented players in Aron Johansson, DeAndre Yedlin and Julian Green. I think they can do well under Klinsmann.

Ghana, I do admit, has a decent team. Prince Boateng, Muntari, Asamoah and Gyan. But they lack in defense and in goal (even though half-norwegian Adam Larsen Kwarasey is pretty good), and Egypt is hardly on USA's level.

I dunno, if you're naming people like DeAndre and Yedlin, I can name people like Mensah, Agyemang-Badu and Ayew.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
